BJP, JD(S) target Karnataka govt over relief to those affected due to monsoon rains

The opposition BJP and JD(S) in Karnataka on Sunday targeted the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government, accusing it of having failed to provide immediate relief to those affected by flooding and landslides in several parts of the state, due to heavy monsoon showers.

Bengaluru: The mother of one of the accused in the Renukaswamy murder case passed away on Saturday, sources said. Manjulamma (70), mother of Raghavendra, has been ailing for the past one year. She went into depression ever since her son was arrested.

 

Students of govt, govt-aided schools in Karnataka to get eggs six days a week

Students of government schools in Karnataka will now be served eggs six days a week as a part of the midday meal scheme. The move comes after Azim Premji Foundation on Saturday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Karnataka to support the nutritional enrichment of the state government's mid-day meal programme in government and government-aided schools for three years. Currently, the state government's mid-day meal programme provides eggs on two days of the week to the students.
