The Bharat Bandh call given by Congress Party against the fuel price rise has evoked a good response in the district. Private and government buses have responded to the bandh by staying off the roads. While some private vehicles are plying on the road, some shops have kept their shutters open.

Former union minister and senior Congress leader Janardhan Poojary who is instrumental in renovating the Kudroli Gokarnanatha Temple, said that as usual, the Mangaluru Dasara festival, being held from the Gokarnanatheshwara temple would start from Oct 10 and end on Oct 19.

“I will act in a Tulu movie. But everyone in Tulunadu should watch that movie and the revenue generated from that movie should be used for the education of the poor children”, said Bollywood actor Sunil Shetty.

Former Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde said that the organizations should work for the welfare of the poor in the community.

Vishwasantosh Bharati Guruji of Barakur Mahasansthan appealed the bunts community to stop lavishness and squandering of money in the name of Nagaradhane and spend that amount to help the poor in the community.

Following Bharat bandh to be held on September 10, the district administration declared holiday for all schools and colleges in the district to ensure law and order situation during the bandh on September 10.
