Mangaluru: Bearys Institute of Technology (BIT), in association with the IEEE BIT Student Branch, hosted a thought-provoking workshop titled “AI and Law Workshop and Post-Quantum Cryptography” on May 30 at the International Seminar Hall.

The death toll in the tragic landslide at Hitthilukodi in Montepadavu, Manjanady village, has risen to three after another child was found dead under the debris.

KPCC General Secretary Inayath Ali visited the residence of Abdul Rahiman in Eerakodi, Kuriyal village, Bantwal taluk, who was recently murdered by miscreants. During his visit, Ali expressed condolences to the bereaved family.

A partial landslide occurred near the Jokatte Gram Panchayat on Thursday night following continuous heavy rainfall, putting a local residence at risk. The incident came to light on Friday.

In a tragic incident caused by a landslide at Hitthilukodi in Montepadavu, part of Manjanady village, the death toll has risen to two. A child who was trapped under the debris has been declared dead, while rescue operations are ongoing to save the child’s mother and sibling.

Incessant rainfall along with strong winds since Thursday evening has greatly affected everyday life in several parts of the district, some of which are also experiencing floods.

A tragic landslide triggered by heavy rains struck early Friday morning around 4:00 AM in Montepadavu, a village in Manjanady, Dakshina Kannada district. The incident occurred at the residence of Kanthappa Poojary in Pambada Hittilu Kody Koppala. The landslide flattened the entire house, resulting in the death of one woman and trapping three others under the debris.

Two fishermen reportedly went missing as their boat capsized when they were fishing near the estuary at Thota Bengre in the city late Thursday night.
