Mangaluru: A large number of people gathered for a protest rally organised by the Ulama Coordination Karnataka against the Waqf Amendment Act at Shah Garden Maidan in Adyar, Kannur, on Friday.

Ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, residents of Bhatkal and surrounding areas had distributed over 1.2 lakh kilograms of rice to economically disadvantaged families. The distribution formed part of the annual Fitra initiative coordinated by the Central Fitra Committee, which has been overseeing this programme for the past four decades.

A woman in her twenties from West Bengal has alleged that she was drugged and "sexually assaulted" after arriving in Mangaluru on April 16, police said.

Belthangady: Another incident involving individuals allegedly dancing indecently, dressed in a denigrating manner, and insulting the Azan (Islamic call to prayer) has come to light under the jurisdiction of the Venoor Police Station. Mangaluru: A young woman from West Bengal was reportedly found in a severely ill condition by locals late Wednesday night near Ranipur, on the banks of Nethravathi river, leading to suspicions of gang rape.

Bhatkal: Leaders and representatives from Muslim organizations across Karnataka’s coastal districts and parts of Goa gathered at Rabita Hall in Bhatkal on Tuesday to express collective opposition to the Waqf (Amendment) Act passed by the central government. The meeting was organized by Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem, a prominent community organization in Bhatkal, and brought together voices from Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, and neighbouring regions.

Mangalore: An IEEE awareness session was held at Bearys Institute of Technology (BIT), Mangalore, to inform students and faculty about the benefits of IEEE membership and the role of IEEE societies within educational institutions. The event was organized by the IEEE Mangalore Subsection in association with the IEEE Student Branch at BIT.
