Chinmayi Shetty (20), a native of Ilantila in Uppinangady, was among the 11 people who lost their lives in the stampede outside Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday. The tragedy occurred during the celebrations organised after Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) clinched their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) title.

Mangaluru: K M Sharief, a senior leader of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind and a prominent figure in the religious, social, and educational landscape of the region, passed away on Tuesday evening at a private hospital in the city following a brief illness. He was 85.

The Dakshina Kannada district police, in coordination with the district administration, has identified 36 individuals for externment from the district limits following their repeated involvement in communal offences and activities that threaten public peace and order, official sources said.
