Temple chariot overturns during Bappanadu Brahmarathotsava; Priest injured

A chariot of the Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple in Bappanadu overturned in the early hours of Saturday during the annual Brahmarathotsava festival, injuring one priest and briefly halting the celebrations. Fortunately, no devotees were seriously hurt in the incident.

Mangaluru: A large number of people gathered for a protest rally organised by the Ulama Coordination Karnataka against the Waqf Amendment Act at Shah Garden Maidan in Adyar, Kannur, on Friday.

 

Bhatkal community distributed over 1.2 lakh kilos of rice to needy families ahead of Eid

Ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, residents of Bhatkal and surrounding areas had distributed over 1.2 lakh kilograms of rice to economically disadvantaged families. The distribution formed part of the annual Fitra initiative coordinated by the Central Fitra Committee, which has been overseeing this programme for the past four decades.

Coastal Muslim leaders convene in Bhatkal, call for protests against new Waqf law

Bhatkal: Leaders and representatives from Muslim organizations across Karnataka’s coastal districts and parts of Goa gathered at Rabita Hall in Bhatkal on Tuesday to express collective opposition to the Waqf (Amendment) Act passed by the central government. The meeting was organized by Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem, a prominent community organization in Bhatkal, and brought together voices from Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, and neighbouring regions.
