Special Action Force to curb communal killings in Coastal, Malnad Regions inaugurated

In an effort to tackle the rising cases of communal violence and targeted killings in the coastal and Malnad regions, the Karnataka government has constituted a Special Task Force (STF), which was formally inaugurated by Home Minister Dr G. Parameshwara on Friday morning.

Bail denied for three accused in Kudupu mob lynching case

Mangaluru: The Second Additional District and Sessions Judge of Dakshina Kannada, Mangaluru, Sri. Jagadeesh V.N., today rejected the bail petitions of four individuals seeking release in connection with the mob lynching incident in Kudupu on April 27, 2025. The order, issued in Crl.Misc./457/2025, pertains to petitioners Saideep (29), Anil Kumar (31), Yathiraj (27), and Adarsha Pandith (27), who were seeking regular bail under Section 483 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023.

 The Dakshina Kannada District Railway Users Forum has launched a petition campaign demanding the restoration of the Mangaluru Central–Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Navyug Express (Train No. 16687/88), the only direct train linking Mangaluru to Jammu & Kashmir. The train service, which was suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic, has not been reinstated, leaving lakhs of passengers from Coastal Karnataka and other parts of South India without direct rail access to North India.
