Mangaluru (Karnataka): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for coastal Karnataka, including Dakshina Kannada district, where heavy rainfall since Saturday afternoon has disrupted daily life.

Mangaluru: A team of officials from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrived in Mangaluru in connection with the murder case of rowdy-sheeter Suhas Shetty, confirmed City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy.

Udupi: Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara has clarified that the inclusion of Udupi in the recently formed Special Action Force (SAF) to prevent communal tensions along the coastal belt does not imply that the district is communally sensitive. Deputy Tahsildar of Vellarikundu, A Pavithran, was arrested on Friday by Kanhangad Police for making derogatory remarks, including a sexist and casteist slur, against a nurse who died in the recent Air India crash. Mangaluru: A 27-year-old man who was brutally attacked near Yeyyadi on June 6 succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Mangaluru on Friday.

A 15-year-old girl in Kutharu here reportedly died on Thursday night after accidentally falling from the 12th floor of the apartment complex the family was living in.
