Bhatkal: Protests continued for third day on Tuesday regarding the installation of a Devinagar board outside the Makkah Masjid at Second Cross on Jali Road here under Jali Patan Panchayat limits in Bhatkal. However, authorities did not grant permission for the installation. Protesters were directed to submit a written memorandum to the Jali Panchayat, which would then decide on the matter.

Karkala: The body of a man was found in a decomposed state inside his house at Banglegudde Paraneeru under the administration limits of Karkala Town Municipality on Tuesday and the man is suspected to have died while sleeping.

Konkan Railways has collected more than Rs 1.95 crore as fine from as many as 6,675 passengers for traveling without tickets in December 2023, with the ticket checking system implemented recently in the trains to provide information to concerned authorities on such violations by passengers, the Konkan Railways officials have said, in a recent press release.
