The multi-crore fraud case involving a 43-year-old prime accused, Roshan Saldanha, has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Tuesday for further investigation, police said.

At least 98 cases of unnatural deaths were reported in the Dharmasthala region, including Ujire and Belthangady, between September 10, 2013 and December 2020, according to official police records. These cases have been registered at Ujire and Belthangady police stations based on complaints received during this period.

Advocate Manjunath N, representing Sujatha Bhat in the Dharmasthala missing persons case, has urged the government to immediately establish a public helpline for victims and their families to file complaints directly with the Special Investigation Team (SIT).

Mangaluru: In a fresh development in the Kolathamajalu Abdul Rahman murder case, police on Monday arrested another accused, bringing the total number of arrests to 11.

Belthangady: Aneesh Joy, a native of Dharmasthala and Belthangady taluk who is currently residing in Kerala, has filed a police complaint at the Thaliparamba Police Station in Kerala, alleging that his father was murdered in 2018 under the guise of a road accident due to a land dispute. The local police have accepted the complaint and are reportedly conducting a preliminary inquiry.

Udupi: Surprise vehicle inspections were held by the Udupi subdivision police on Saturday at five locations under the Manipal Police Station limits, with the police confiscating 21 vehicles and registering cases against drivers violating rules.

Kasaragod: The body of a young worker from Belagavi, who had gone missing in the waters of the river at Manjathadka in Panattur was found on Monday morning after extensive search by the police and fire brigade personnel.

One person died while several others were injured after the private bus they priwere travelling in fell into a stream after hitting a bridge in the wee hours of Monday, police said.
