Mangaluru: Two people died after police fired at the protesters in Mangaluru on Thursday evening when the protest against CAA and NRC turned violent.

Mangaluru: Ashraf, Former Mayor of Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) along with four others has sustained injuries in clashes between protesters and police on Thursday evening.

Mangaluru: In the wake of violent protests that gripped the city on Thursday afternoon, Police have imposed curfew in Mangaluru Central sub-division limits to maintain law and order. The order was issued by Mangaluru Police Commissioner Dr. PS Harsha on Thursday evening.

The protests against Citizenship Amendment Act which are being carried out in the City by violating prohibitory orders have turned violent and the police have resorted to lathi charge.

Violating the prohibitory orders imposed in Mangaluru under section 144, protesters on Thursday demonstrated against the NRC and CAA near Deputy Commissioner’s office.

As the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act intensified in Mangaluru, police busted tear gas to bring the situation under control. 

Violating the prohibitory orders under section 144 imposed by Police Commissioner, a group of protesters staged demonstration on Thursday afternoon near Deputy Commissioner's office here in the city.
