Karnataka govt mulls waiver of 79.47 crore loan taken by farmer-victims of Covid

Bengaluru: As many as 10,187 farmers in Karnataka have died of COVID-19 and have left behind outstanding loans worth Rs 79.47 crore which the State government is likely write off, Co-operation Minister S T Somashekar said on Wednesday.

Bengaluru, Jul 14: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister C N Ashwath Narayan on Wednesday said the state government would undertake a unique programme Udyoga at a cost of Rs 5,000 crore, aimed at realizing the objective of up-skilling the youth workforce through ITIs (Industrial Training Institutes) and converting 150 ITIs to Technology hubs.

July 14: 1,990 new COVID-19 cases, 45 deaths in Karnataka

Bengaluru: Karnataka on Wednesday reported 1,990 new cases of COVID-19 and 45 deaths, taking the caseload to 28,76,587 and death toll to 35,989, the health department said.
