Governor Vajubhai Vala today ordered Medical Education Minister Dr. Sudhakar to take full charge of controlling the spread of coronavirus.

Four new positive cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Karnataka, taking the total number of the affected in the state to 38 on Tuesday.

Legal action will be initiated against those spreading rumors about Wenlock Hospital over coronavirus, tweeted Mangaluru Police Commissioner Dr. Harsha.

As a result of lock down imposed due to disastrous coronavirus outbreak in the state, Yasir Hassan, President, Popular Front of India Karnataka state has sought the state government to announce special packages. He also requested the citizens to strictly follow the guidelines issued by the health ministry. 

The Karnataka government on Monday night announced a lockdown from March 24 till month end in the entire state as seven new COVID-19 cases were reported, taking the tally in the state to 33.

Seven confirmed coronavirus cases were reported in Karnataka on Monday, taking the total number to 33, the State Health department said.

Curfew-like total shut down imposed in the nine COVID-19 affected districts of the state from Tuesday, said Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar.

The Karnataka government on Monday said anyone who violates quarantine restrictions can be booked under provisions of the Indian Penal Code, which provides for imprisonment up to six months and fine.
