Two women labourers buried under the mud when the slope collapsed while digging for constructing a retention walk in the city on Wednesday.

The 61st Sessions Court of the city granted a conditional anticipatory bail to Ali Khan, the close associate of mining baron Janardhan Reddy in related to a deal with Ambident Company, on Wednesday. 

Amid a political slugfest over the Rafale fighter jet deal, state-run HAL's Chairman and Managing Director R Madhavan Wednesday said the aircraft manufacturing company is contending not to be an offset partner of any original equipment manufacturer.

Scam-tainted mining czar and former minister Janardhana Reddy is facing the threat of arrest again in old deals and illegal money transfer cases. It is said that he is preparing to file anticipatory bail application before the court.

With a record victory of Anitha Kumaraswamy in Ramanagar Assembly constituency in the by-election on Tuesday defeating BJP candidate L Chandrashekar with a margin of 1.09 lakh votes, both Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy and his wife Anitha Kumaraswamy entered the Legislative Assembly together for the second time and thus created a history.

“I will hold the responsibility for this defeat”, said MLA B Sriramulu.

Responding to the victory of Congress-JDS coalition candidates in the by-election, former chief minister Siddaramaiah ridiculed that the defeating spree of BJP started from today.

 “It is said Ballari is BJP’s strong fort. What happened now” former prime minister HD Deve Gowda asked BJP.
