Bengaluru: JD (S) legislative party meeting, headed by Kumaraswamy, began today. After discussing the MLAs in the legislative party meeting, legislative leader will be elected. Possibly they will meet the Governor later.


Why did Congress lose despite higher vote-share than BJP

Bengaluru: The Congress, which had won 122 seats in 2013's state assembly polls, has gained merely 78 seats this time.  If various parties' vote share numbers are seen, Congress has increased number of votes comparing to previous elections.

As per the result of the Karnataka Assembly election announced on Tuesday, the number of Muslim MLAs has come down to seven, which is the lowest number in the history of the state. In the last election, total 11 Muslims were elected to the Assembly.

Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) candidate from Narasimharaja constituency in Mysuru urged the Returning Officer to withhold the election results of the constituency and recounting of VVPAT data as there is a suspicion on misuse of EVMs.

Another constituency which was the centre of attraction was Shivamogga urban, where former deputy chief minister and Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council KS Eshwarappa won against sitting MLA KB Prasanna Kumar of Congress with a huge margin of 46,107 votes. Eshwarappa got 104027 votes, while Prasanna Kumar got 57920 votes.
