Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Patidar community protests and youth leader Hardik Patel’s hunger strike in Gujarat.

The Public Instruction Department has announced the state level best teachers awards for 2018-19 for 31 teachers. The department has announced the best teachers award to 20 teachers from the primary schools, 10 teachers from high school section and one teacher for special award from the high school section.

Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy said that going by the results of the urban local bodies elections, the people in the state have accepted the Congress-JDS coalition government.

A rowdy sheeter was hacked to death with lethal weapons in the Byadarahalli police station limits here on Sunday. The victim is identified as rowdy-sheeter Gurumurthy (27) of Madanayakanahalli.

Close on the heels of announcing the local bodies election results, violent activities erupted in some parts of the state on Monday.

The results of much curious local bodies elections was announced on Monday and one of the ruling parties- Congress has gained upper hands with winning more seats. But in many places, there were hung results and political parties are competing with each other for the power.

BJP state president B.S. Yeddyurappa said that the results of the local bodies in the state would not have any impact on the Lok Sabha elections to be held in 2019.

"Our ancestors have done good thing to the society. The Constitution has brought all the scattered states of India and it's diversity together. Because of the equal opportunities entitled in the Constitution to every citizen and the social reformers like Sri Narayana Guru, the oppressed classes today have equal rights and opportunities in the society", said Rajya Sabha Member B K Hariprasad.
