The Karnataka government on Thursday appointed senior IPS officer Seemanth Kumar Singh as the new Police Commissioner of Bengaluru.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday ordered the suspension of Bengaluru police commissioner and several senior police officials in connection with the stampede in front of Chinnaswamy Stadium here, which left 11 people dead.

Under-fire IPL champion Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Thursday said it will co-operate with all the legal proceedings after an FIR was registered against it in connection with the stampede outside Chinnaswamy Stadium in which 11 people were killed.

An FIR was registered against RCB, State Cricket Association, and others under various charges including culpable homicide not amounting to murder in connection with the stampede that killed 11 people on June 4, police said on Thursday.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Thursday turned emotional over the loss of lives due to the stampede near the Chinnaswamy Stadium and said that Bengaluru has lost its image due to the incident that claimed 11 lives.

Family of Divyanshi, a 15-year-old girl, who died in the stampede outside Chinnaswamy stadium, Bengaluru on Wednesday evening, said they had to wait nearly four hours before an FIR could be filed.

Most of those injured in the stampede occurred outside the Chinnasamy Stadium in Bengaluru were discharged from hospitals and a few still being treated are out of danger, hospital authorities said on Thursday.

Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha, who is heading the magisterial probe into the stampede near Chinnaswamy stadium, on Thursday said that notices will be issued to Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Police Commissioner B Dayananda to join the inquiry.
