Mysuru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson M. Laxman has called for the filing of a case under the Goonda Act against several BJP leaders, including Leader of the Opposition R. Ashok, BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra, MLA Ashwath Narayana, and Legislative Council member C.T. Ravi. He accused these leaders of inciting communal riots in the state, including the Nagamangala Ganeshotsava riots, and destabilising peace and order.

Kalaburagi: Lokayukta police have arrested Shivasharanappa, the warden of the Taluk Backward Classes Welfare Department hostel in Kalaburagi, after he was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of ₹15,000. The warden was arrested while receiving the money from an assistant cook employed at the hostel.

A family in Bengaluru mistakenly immersed a Ganesha idol adorned with a 60-gram gold chain worth Rs 4 lakh in a mobile immersion tank at Dasarahalli Circle, Vijayanagar. The incident took place on Saturday night, with the chain being recovered after a 10-hour search.

Autorickshaw driver Mutturaj R, aged 47, was arrested by the Magadi Road police for allegedly slapping a woman passenger after she canceled her ride. He was released on bail six days later and has expressed regret and shame for his behavior, although he denied the assault allegations.
