The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed former Telecom Minister Dayanidhi Maran's plea challenging a Madras High Court order directing he be tried in an illegal telephone exchange case.


40 lakh left out of draft list of NRC in Assam

The first complete draft of the National Register of Citizens (NRC), comprising names of 2,89,83,677 people of Assam, was published on Monday.

Releasing the document online at the state NRC headquarters here, Registrar General of India, Sailesh said that a total of 3,29,91,384 people had applied for inclusion of their names in the document, but 40,07,707 had been left out due to some discrepancies in their documents.

The swashbuckling West Indies batsman, who scored a blistering 73-run from 66 balls equalled Pakistan superstar Shahid Afridi's feat of identical number of sixes. Both the batsmen now have 476 sixes against their name. Gayle achieved the feat in 443 matches while Afridi reached the mark in 524 matches. However, Gayle's power-packed knock on top of the order failed to help West Indies clinch a ODI series victory against Bangladesh -- who won the series 2-1.

Hackers deposit Re 1 in TRAI chief R S Sharma’s bank account

Ethical hackers on Sunday claimed to have the bank account details of Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) chairman R S Sharma and posted the same on Twitter. Users also posted screenshots of sending Re 1 to Sharma via the Aadhaar-Enabled Payment Service using apps like BHIM and Paytm, and through IMPS. They also posted the transaction IDs.
