Drought has hit the state again. About 100 taluks are reeling under drought as per government report. Drought situation is particularly worse in 72 taluks. Many more number of taluks are also affected by the drought. People’s lives are getting miserable. Drinking water has become scarce. Hundreds of villages are being supplied with water in tankers.

It has been three years since Rohit Vemula had to sacrifice his life to the system. His death is an example of how the government, police department, politicians and authorities can systematically finish a creative person. This silencing of voices didn’t end with Vemula, in fact his incident was just the beginning of it all.

A country like India can never be devoid of swamijis and mutts almost at every nook and corner of the cities and villages. We even see some fake swamijis being exposed increasingly too. Known as godmen at some point of time, most of them are spending their days inside the jails for their crimes. Hindu dharma that had saints and social reformers like Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Narayana Guru etc is being humiliated to the core by fake swamijis.  

Students committing suicide is even more gory than the farmers ending their lives in this country. There would be some report or the other about some student ending his or her life somewhere in the state starting from March to June every year. This happens like series of events. Education today is another version of child labour. While young children work to earn money in factories and other places, other children work to bring marks for their parents’ satisfaction.

People are seething with the developments in state politics since the last few days. BJP had tried to clinch power through the ‘Operation Kamala’ route soon after the assembly election results had been out. It had even submitted a memorandum to the governor seeking permission to form the government despite knowing the fact that the party didn’t have required number of seats to do so. But owing to the strong political acumen of DK Shivakumar Operation Kamala fell flat on its face.

Today is the third death anniversary of Rohit Vemula, who tried his best to fight against casteist forces in Hyderabad University, and ended his life unable to put up with the mammoth political pressure that was exerted on him. Though wide protests and demonstrations happened over his death and the circumstances that forced him to take that decision, the situation in the country remains unchanged. 

Ever since this country got independence, the nation hadn’t seen such divisive and ill minded government. No other government gave so much troubles to people as much as this government did, continuing to assault and defeat the tenets of constitution in the last four and half years since they have been in power.

The incident of JNU student leaders Kanhaiya Kumar, Umar Khalid, Anirban Bhattacharya and seven others allegedly shouting anti-national slogans in the precincts of JNU campus in 2016 has again come to light with Delhi police drawing up the chargesheet against them on Monday.
