Government snoops over common man's right to privacy

Judiciary that fell prey to fake encounter

As expected, all 22 accused in Sohrabuddin murder case have been acquitted for lack of evidence. In some way, it looks like the culprits themselves argued their own cases and declared themselves innocent. How can we even dream of the culprits being punished when the courts, CBI, and other investigation agencies are under the claws of mighty and powerful who are siding with the accused? Amit Shah’s name was in the forefront when it came to Sohrabuddin's murder case.

Kannada-English should go hand in hand

Many thinkers, writers and literatures have taken to streets protesting against the government decision to open English medium schools.

Air pollution is detrimental to public health

Ever since globalisation set its foot in, one needs to take a critical look at activities that have taken place in the name of development. People have been able to access a lot of facilities in the name of modern technology. But the impact of this unabated development has been largely negative on the environment. Official statistics say one among eight deaths happens due to air pollution. Pure air is becoming dearer with every passing day.

Sangh Parivar conspiracy behind Sikh massacre

Sometimes justice to the victims itself becomes a big injustice meted out to them. Though former Congress leader Sajjan Kumar has been sentenced to life in the Sikh massacre case, there is always an iota of doubt about whether this can indeed be called justice.

Fence is eating crop here!

Who should we hold responsible for the violence laden situation in the country today? Should we hold the police department responsible for being unable to contain the communal elements from spreading unrest in the country? Their role is evident in increasing number of communal cases and massacres that are spreading like wildfire across the nation.

The boon of death

Temples, places of worship and the beliefs around it are created by man for the sanctity of his life. Many believers live on the faith that a God that protects then exists somewhere in some form. Faith in God helps millions of people get through their lives.

Rafale scandal: Who is Modi loyal to?

Modi and his men seem to think that it is a huge success and a ‘clean chit’ given to them that an investigation of an alleged scam has been evaded at the outset. Supreme Court has dismissed the petition to probe into Rafale scam under the supervision of court.

RBI: Frying pan to fire

A tea seller can become the Prime Minister of the country. That would be the victory of democracy. At the same time, if a PM can choose a television serial actor to head the most significant portfolio of HRD ministry and be given the responsibility of looking after all universities; or appoint a person with graduation in history to be the governor of RBI, it would be a loss of the power democracy gives us.

Congress included, opposition parties need to unite

The results of five state assembly elections has given a new lease of hope to opposition parties, simultaneously descending a pall of gloom on BJP over its dismal performance. Had these states been won by BJP, the hope of Operation Lotus would have received some boost in Karnataka too.
