Brahminical symbols in lit fest unacceptable

A celebratory fair of Kannada has begun in Dharwad. That quaint city itself is home to many writers. Legend has it that if you throw a stone in Dharwad, it will go and land in some writer's house for sure. This goes to indicate every household in Dharwad has some writer or a poet or a lover of literature who would have dabbled with some other form of literature. Hence, this year's Akhila Bharathi Kannada Sahitya Sammelana has gained significance for many reasons.

Women of Kerala create history

Women of Kerala have created history again. Having asserted their identity and right to cover their breasts about a century ago, the women of Kerala have again made a mark for themselves by having entered the sanctum sanctorum of Ayyappa Swami temple. With this, they have also upheld the dignity and honour of Supreme Court verdict, along with constitutional values with their act.

Kader Khan: A man that Bollywood forgot too soon

Veteran actor of Bollywood Kader Khan has breathed his last. Today's generation identifies him only as an actor of comedy genre. There was a time when Govinda and Kader Khan made for a superhit pair. Their roles would be created on the lines of popular cartoon series such as Tom and Jerry. Those roles used to be very powerful such as son-in-law and father-in-law, or son and father where the characters would hey into direct competition with each other in performance. Shakti Kapoor also entered into the completion equation sometimes.

Looks like the royal blue fox is losing its outer colour and coming back onto its skin shade. Some leaders within BJP have begun to speak about the bad performance of the party and failure of Amit Shah and Modi, in the elections held across five states.

Conspiracy to deny justice

BJP leaders have created a massive controversy around the words CM Kumaraswamy has said to the police officer who called to inform him regarding the murder of a JDS leader who was close to the CM, in Maddur of Mandya district recently. Kumaraswamy has already clarified his words and the emotions behind those. But using these words as a pretext, leader of opposition BS Yeddyurappa of the BJP is trying to ensure HDK is being seen as a culprit in the whole episode. But would it not be better if the BJP leaders had one look at their own national leaders?

Immutable shall fall; dynamic shall survive

The politics of statue that's happening in India isn't limited to this country alone, but has spread to some other nations as well. The proof of this lies in the fact that the incidents around Mahatma Gandhi's statue in Ghana are getting complex with every passing day. Giving in to pressure by a few professors, the statue of M K Gandhi was ripped out from the University campus. This is almost the same politics that's getting a lot of attention in India as well.
