Mangaluru, June 15: In view of the continuous heavy rainfall across Dakshina Kannada district over the past few days and the red alert issued by the Meteorological Department, the district administration has ordered the closure of all schools and Anganwadi centres in several taluks on Monday, June 16.

Amid heavy rains lashing the region, a couple narrowly escaped serious injury after a tree fell on their moving scooter near Gandi in Kukkavu Kopp, Beltangady taluk.

Relentless rainfall continues to disrupt life across Dakshina Kannada district, with multiple incidents of landslides and structural collapses reported since Saturday. Several roads have been blocked due to mudslides and compound wall collapses, severely affecting vehicular movement.
