A bride in Kapu constituency performed her civic duty and also set an example to eligible voters on Wednesday by casting her vote on the way to her wedding.

Polling commenced today for the State Assembly general elections across eight assembly constituencies in the district. From the early morning hours, voters were observed forming queues outside several polling booths. To ensure the smooth conduct of polling, over 4,500 police and paramilitary officers have been deployed in the district.

A bike rider died on the spot in the vicinity of the railway bridge of Subhash Nagar near Katapady on Tuesday morning, after his motorbike collided head-on with a tempo.
