Two people died and five others were missing after their tug boat that was assisting a ship capsized 10 nautical miles off the coast here.

Udupi: The 48-year-old son of Mohammed Moodbidri, a resident of Bolar in Mangaluru, Mohammed Anees Shaikh passed away at a private hospital in Udupi on Thursday.

Mangaluru: Police on Saturday arrested a man here for allegedly making a derogatory comment on a Hindu deity on social media.

In an incident that occurred on Saturday morning, a two-storeyed house situated close to the ocean at Musodi in Uppala, collapsed to the ground after intense tidal waves crashed into the structure. The levelled house belongs to a man named Musa, who is a resident of Musodi, it is learned.

Mangaluru: A day after INS Kolkata brought 27 tonnes of oxygen and other essential material for COVID-19 treatment from Qatar and Kuwait, two more Indian Naval ships, Kochi and Tabar, reached New Mangalore Port on Tuesday with critical supplies including 100 tonnes of oxygen, a defence official said.
