Mangaluru: The Magisterial Enquiry into the Mangaluru Police firing on anti-CAA protesters on December 19 last year was winded up on Tuesday, as the chair of the enquiry and Udupi DC G Jagadeesha held a final hearing here in the city today.

The drug menace in the state has grabbed a lot of headlines recently. After a reported crackdown on one of the major drug rackets in the state’s capital, several sandalwood stars are said to be under the scanner of authorities for drug abuse. But Mangaluru in Dakshina Kannada has been a hub for the peddling and circulation of drugs in Dakshina Kannada District. This has resulted in compromising the future of the youth in the district and the administration has hardly put in any major efforts to combat the drug mafia.

Mangaluru: The final hearing as part of the magisterial inquiry into the firing on anti-CAA protestors on December 19 last year will be held here on September 1, inquiry officer and Udupi deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha said in a release Saturday.

Puttur: Local police have registered cases against 40 people for violating quarantine orders. The cases have been registered at Puttur Town Police Station.

Sullia: Local BJP MLA, S Angara on Friday tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus and was sent to home quarantine, reports added.
