Vehicle movement on Shiradi Ghat banned until August 25

The Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil has issued an order to completely ban the vehicular movement on Shiradi Ghat on National Highway 75 from August 16 to 25 following the lashing of torrential rains.

Bantwal: Low-lying areas inundated again

The low-lying areas in Bantwal have once again flooded with the water flowing from Nethravathi River after a break of one day. Meanwhile, Tahsildar Purandara Hegde has announced holiday for all the schools in the taluk today (August. 16).

Heavy rain in Kasaragod: Many families shifted

As the Chandragiri river is in full spate due to heavy rains in the district, around 25 per cent of families living down-stream were shifted to safe places. The low-lying areas in Korakkodu were marooned in the flood water. Fire brigade, revenue department and police department have shifted the families.

Lineman electrocuted at Sullia

A lineman was electrocuted while repairing an electric pole at Boliamajalu near here on Wednesday.

Mangaluru-Bengaluru route Volvo, Rajahamsa bus service suspended

The KSRTC authorities said that all Volvo and Rajahamsa bus service between Mangaluru and Bengaluru route was suspended following heavy rains in the region. KSRTC red buses would ply on Charmadi Ghat road to Bengaluru.

Kasaragod: Holiday for schools, colleges on Aug 16

Following heavy rainfall in the district, deputy commissioner (incharge) N Devidas has declared holiday for all schools and colleges across the district on August 16.
