Condoling the death of Shiroor seer Lakshmivara Theertha Swami, Pejawar mutt seer Vishwesha Theertha swamiji said that there is no information of poisoning the seer.

Mangaluru: Haj registration process begins

The registration for the Haj pilgrims leaving from Mangaluru Airport through Indian Haj Committee began at the Bajpe Ansar School here on Thursday.

Registration of 146 persons leaving from Mangaluru on July 21 took place today. The process began with the registration of Ibrahim, a resident of Kattapuni near Parappu in Bantwal Taluk. The registration process will continue until 4 pm. Haroon Ahansi offered prayers.

Hiriyadka police have registered a case over the suspicious death of the Shiroor Mutt seer Lakshmivara Tirtha Swamiji on the basis of a complaint filed by his family.

Poisoning suspected in death of Shiroor Swamiji: KMC Medical Superintendent

The Medical Superintendent of Manipal’s KMC expressed doubt over the death of the Shiroor Mutt seer Lakshmivara Tirtha Swamiji who passed away this morning and said the Swamiji might have died by poisoning.

“There was excessive bleeding from his body. There is a suspicion of poisoning. The police have been informed about this incident,” Dr. Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent of KMC Hospital said.

Udupi: Mother, daughter electrocuted to death

 In a tragic incident, a woman and her daughter were killed by electrocution when they incidentally came in contact with a live wire that was snapped and fell outside their yard at Gunupade in Pernankil Grama Panchayat limits at around 6:30 am today.

The deceased have been identified as Jalaja Nayak (80) and her daughter Sumathi (55).

Shiroor Mutt seer Lakshmivara Tirtha Swamiji is no more

Shiroor Mutt seer Lakshmivara Tirtha Swamiji passed away on Thursday morning at Manipal KMC Hospital. He was 66.

KMC doctors announced that the Swamiji, who was admitted to Manipal’s KMC Hospital following a brief illness on Wednesday, did not respond to treatment and breathed his last on Thursday morning.
