Udupi: Gas tanker driver assaulted by locals for haphazard, drunk driving; handed over to cops

A major accident was averted on the National Highway 66 stretch near Ambalapady after locals stopped a gas tanker being driven erratically at night without headlights. The driver, reportedly a native of Maharashtra, was found to be under the influence of alcohol.
