Uppinangady: Protest before police station; 10 PFI workers held

Mangaluru: Police on Thursday arrested ten persons in connection with the violent protest by Popular Front of India (PFI) activists before Uppinangady police station in Puttur taluk of Dakshina Kannada district on December 14, police sources said.

Normalcy returns in Uppinangady, security beefed up as section 144 continues

 In the wake of protesters being subjected to lathi-charge by the police on Tuesday, section 144 was imposed in Uppinangady. The town appeared normal on Wednesday and as precautionary measures, police have been deployed in various places in Uppinangady, Udupi districts.

Uppinangady: Local police on Tuesday night lathi-charged protesters who were reportedly protesting outside the police station against the detention of three Popular Front of India (PFI) leaders in connection with a recent assault case. More than 10 people have reportedly sustained injuries while four other police personnel have also been injured in the incident.
