Dakshina Kannada district recorded its fifth COVID-19 death on Thursday.

Mangaluru: Pregnant women, children below 10 years of age, and senior citizens above 80 years of age, will be subjected to home quarantine if they test negative for COVID-19 in the first report , as per the state government's new guidelines; said Deputy Commissioner Sindhu b. Rupesh.

Udupi: Refuting the claims doing rounds in local media, newspapers and social media, BRS Health and Research Institute Private Limited has issued a press statement adding that it has not surrendered the Haji Abdullah Mother and Child Hospital, Udupi to the Government of Karnataka and that they were being misquoted by the media and newspapers.

In what is the fourth death due to COVID-19 in Dakshina Kannada District, a 58-year old woman on Wednesday succumbed to the virus at Wenlock Hospital in the city here.

For the first time since the COVID-19 lockdown in Karnataka, KSRTC and a few private buses started services in select routes in Udupi district Wednesday following the decision taken by the district administration.

One more person has been tested positive for coronavirus in Dakshina Kannada district on Wednesday morning. With this the total number of the corona infected persons in the district has increased to 34.

 The first flight from UAE to Mangaluru landed at Mangaluru International Airport with 176 stranded NRIs onboard on Tuesday night. The flight reportedly landed at the airport at 10:10 pm.

Private and government bus services in Udupi district will be started from May 13 as per the public demand, said Udupi district Deputy Commissioner G. Jagadish.
