At least three people were killed after police opened fire to quell a mob that went on a rampage irked over a social media post allegedly put out by a Congress legislator's relative, as a city locality witnessed arson and violence.

Five people were burnt alive after a bus they were traveling caught fire on the highway in the early hours of Wednesday, August 12.

The situation is under control at Kaval Byrasandra, said Bengaluru police Commissioner Kamal Pant. 

The  violence over a derogatory post at Kaval Byrasandra in north Bengaluru has now turned fatal. According to the sources, one person has been shot to death. But it is still unclear whether he died from the police gunshot or due to violence.
