Belthangady: The dead body of a young man was found in suspicious circumstances near Alake Road in Ujire village in Belthangady taluk on Sunday morning.

Union Minister DV Sadananda Gowda admitted that the controversial statements of some of the party leaders caused set back to the BJP in the recently held by-poll in the state.

A student accidentally fell down from a moving school bus and died on Ishwaramangala- Patte road near Patladka in the taluk on Saturday.

Dr. Ushaprabha N Nayak, Vice-Chairperson of Expert Group of Institutions, Mangaluru has been awarded a PhD by the prestigious National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal, during the 16th Annual Convocation held here on 10th November 2018.

"It is common to have favour and opposition to any Jayanthi's. So there is no need to celebrate them secretly. The district administration should arrange the programme in public places to help the people", said MLC Harish Kumar.

The police arrested the Bajrang Dal workers for obstructing the Tippu Jayanthi programme, here on Saturday.

Tipu Jayanthi was celebrated at the deputy commissioner's office here on Saturday. Deputy commissioner Priyanka Mary, SP Lakshman Nimbargi, ADC Vidya Kumari attended the programme.

 Police arrested the workers of Bajrang Dal, VHP and Sri Rama Sene workers for trying to lay siege Tippu Jayanti programme at the zilla panchayat office here on Saturday.
