No fishing in DK from June 1 to July 31

As per the Karnataka Coastal Fishing (Control) Act 1986, the Karnataka state government has banned fishing activity using nets and other materials through mechanized boats or traditional boats using inboard or outboard machines of above 10 horse power capacity in the coastal belt of Dakshina Kannada district in the state for 61 days from June 1 to July 31.


No panic about Nipah in DK: DC

Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil said that though the samples of phlegm or mucus of two persons were sent for laboratory test following the outbreak of Nipah virus in Kerala, they were found negative and there is no need to be panic about Nipah in Dakshina Kannada district.

Though the family members saved a man from committing suicide, he died after falling accidentally, at Hemmanee Guddemane in Brahmavar police station limits on Wednesday.

Heavy rains wreak havoc in Udupi district

Heavy rains that lashed in almost all the district except Karkala and Hebri taluks, with gusty wind and thunderbolt on the wee hours of Tuesday, wreaked havoc in the district.
